The EMMAs are open for entry

emmas logoI’m always pleased to support Mobile Marketing Magazine Editor, David Murphy, in his ventures and this one is a particular favourite of mine. It’s the annual Effective Mobile Marketing Awards (or EMMAs as they’re affectionately known) sponsored by Upstream. It’s the second year and I’m most honoured to be a judge again.

Why do I like these awards?

  • Well, they reward campaigns and initiatives that have actually worked, have met campaign goals and delivered a return on investment (if indeed that was the goal). And we can all learn from that so it ends up being a great repository of case studies
  • They’re free to enter. Yes, that’s right, FREE to enter
  • There’s a great range of categories to enter – whether you’re into apps, advertising or mCommerce, there’ll be a category for you to enter if mobile is your thing
  • The winners get lovely PR coverage in the magazine – both online and in print
  • The awards bash will be a treat if last year’s is anything to go by.

There are 17 categories, including several new ones, and entry is free. We also welcome multiple entries from the same company. The Awards will culminate in an Awards Ceremony at Delfina in London, on 3 November, 2011. The categories are below, and the deadline for entries is 5pm UK time, Friday, 26 August, 2011. So that’s a month to go, folks.

Swedish Beers is back and it’s going back to its roots on Wednesday 27 July 2011

comeback logoYep, that’s right, Swedish Beers is back in London after a short break and we’re going back to our roots at The Nordic Bar where it all began almost 10 years ago.

It’s the same formula as before – mingle, make friends, talk of mobiles, marketing, life in general, drink beer, talk some more, rinse and repeat. There’s no PowerPoint, no formal speeches, and no agenda. Just come with a smile on your face and be prepared to hang out with everyone from mobilists to marketers, brands, agencies, creatives, media owners, journalists, pundits and more. We hope there’ll be a good mix of friendly faces for you to chew the fat with.

We will have free house beer, house wine and soft drinks for you courtesy of our lovely sponsors Millennial Media and Eagle Eye Solutions. You’ll have to look for them to get your free beer tokens. There are plenty to go around. If we run out of beer tokens, then we’ll revert to a pay bar.

What: Swedish Beers Mobile Networking Party – The London Comeback Edition

When: Wednesday 27 July 2011 from 6.15pm until 11pm

Where: You'll find us at the Nordic Bar on Newman Street which is the North side of Oxford Street, nearest tube Tottenham Court Road, Oxford Circus or Goodge Street. We’ll be in the back bar but fully expect to take over the front bar too.

There’s no need to RSVP, just turn up. If you’re really feeling the need to RSVP somewhere, then you can do that over here http://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=133200136763763&ref=mf

About the sponsors

Millennial Media

millennial media logo

Millennial Media is a a mobile advertising platform whose mission is to cut through the clutter and deliver real results on mobile for clients. And they’re doing pretty well at it with around 142 million global mobile customers in over 250 countries across more than 10,000 sites and applications. Oh, and that covers over 5,500 mobile devices. That’s some reach. Oh, and a bunch of happy clients and partners to boot. Gavin Stirrat, MD EMEA, and his team will be on hand on the night to talk about mobile advertising and to hand out beer tokens.

Eagle Eye Solutions

eagle-eye-logo

Eagle Eye Solutions is all about mobilising retail. They have a very neat mobile couponing and redemption solution that makes use of existing Credit Card Terminals and EPoS technology so you don’t have to change your systems. Working with the likes of High Street retailers like Oasis and Comet, maybe you could be next. Anyway, search out CEO, Steve Rothwell and CMO Russell Buckley for mobile chat and beer tokens.
